====================

Registration "windows" for Summer and Fall classes open on March 3 (for "senior" students),
or March 5 for all others. [Dream Big! and Honors students can register before March 3.]
Please make an appointment to see me before the end of March!

New advisees should meet in person the first time. New students must attend an Advising Workshop before I can advise you and clear you to register.

All students, but particularly my "Achieving the Dream" advisees, should complete (or update) the following before our appointment:

Be sure to record your degree and transfer plans, as well as your foreign language background, in the Academic Planner. This will allow me to prepare for our appointment and make our meeting more efficient.

I ask that you make an appointment for any visit during March or early April so I can minimize conflicts with office-hours for my physics students. I will have a sign-up schedule of advising times during the six weeks or so from February through early April that will be set aside for advising. At other times, send e-mail (or call) to set up an appointment, or just ask your question via e-mail.

Drop-in advising sessions are possible, but only if there are no students from my classes waiting to see me. Physics students and advisees with appointments will have the first priority for my time during April.

Students making good progress who have filled in their academic plan can often "meet" via e-mail or over the phone. (Click here for info on e-mail advising.) If you have withdrawn from some classes or failed some classes, you should make an appointment to meet with me in person. Ditto if you have changed your planned major.

If you are getting close to graduation, you should visit Enrollment Services to have a "grad check" done to be sure you are ready for graduation.

Advising appointment times

The schedule below shows the times I may be available for advising sessions. The schedule on my office door will have other times blacked out when meetings or the demand for office hours around exams makes advising appointments impossible.

Sign up using the appointment schedule on my office (SM-290) door.
You can also send e-mail suggesting a possible appointment time and I will reply to confirm.
