Sections 5.1 and 5.2 (two days of examples); circular motion (Section 5.3) and friction (Section 5.4); start work and energy (Section 6.1).
This lecture usually includes a conceptual overview of integral calculus, defining the work integral as the area under the graph of the force as a function of position. The main example, which applies to our central problem of finding the work done by a spring, also makes it clear (because the example is one also used at about this point in Calc I to show the meaning of the derivative) that the integral is the anti-derivative.
Rest of week 5 Sections 6.3 and 6.4; Energy conservation in Sections 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3.
Mon 2/13: Section 7.3 (examples), the last material on Exam 2.
Rest of the sixth week: Start unit 3, (Sections 9.1 thru 9.2 on momentum and examples from Section 9.3).
Thurs 2/16: Exam 2, Sections 4.1 to 7.3 covered by HW-06 thru HW-11.
