Teaming and Communication |
Teaming and Communication: At the beginning, we must say that it was very challenging deciding on the official subject for the project. In fact, we were quit late determining our subject focus, but nevertheless, we continued and persevered. Not to mention finding the right fellow team members who would be really active and dedicated to the success of the project was a stumble in the road. We all had different ideas, view points, objectives, and problem solving skills, so it was a slow process to officially decide as a group about certain details and specific duties. After finding a way to accommodate everyone’s schedule and availability, we knew we were heading somewhere. We worked together on the project in the morning, before classes, we even worked after hours sometimes until 2:00am putting our heads together for its development. As a previous student who preferred working independently on projects, fellow group member Ashley, actually admitted she enjoyed the time, fellowship, and developed patience while working as a team member. When needed, our URDC Coordinator provided guidance and direction, and was always available for further assistance. |

Research and Project Design |
Research and Project design: During the research, we searched for familiar designs and ideas that were familiar to our project. It was quite fascinating how the success, research and functions of the other projects provided great help, direction, and encouragement for our idea. As a team we kept the mindset, “If they could do it, so can we.” Often times when you’re trying to invent or originate an idea, the thought of doubt and skepticism always plays a role in the process. For that reason, we tried our best to go over and above to make sure we research every detail for our potential design functions. We learned the importance of accurately checking and verifying reliable sources and websites, due to the fact that their appalling accreditation could definitely affect the success of our project. |

Advice |
If we could provide any advice to future student teams regarding their participation in the URCD, we would encourage them to look outside of the box. They should focus on something so bizarre and peculiar that in a way no one would have ever thought of it before, but yet something so desired and needed that no one will ever forget it existed. Furthermore, not only look outside the box, but they should also look inside their heart. People tend to put more effort into projects, plans, and dreams that’s close to their heart and earnestly work their best for its success. As a team, they should decide as a team what interest them the most, perhaps that explains why the start of our project was so much delayed in time due to no ground understanding concerning our interest. However, after the realization, the team should be so passionate and interested in their project idea, that automatically it influences the interest of others. Last but not least, we urge them to optimistically explore their imagination, embrace the given opportunity for creation, do not procrastinate, be open-minded to others, do their very best, and through it all have fun! |
